Melody studied pianoforte and music theory under the private tuition of Christine Evans and Eileen Ffrench as well as under Ashleigh Tobin at Flinders Street School of Music, Adelaide.
After graduating from The University of Adelaide in 1992 she taught in Japan for six years, then returned to Australia to teach in primary and secondary schools.
Melody has extensive teaching experience in Australia and overseas and since 2011 has been most happy teaching music in a private studio setting where she can be focussed on each individual student's strengths and musical tastes.

Elina Tanase
Teacher of Piano and Cello

Elina is completing a Bachelor of Music Education and Pedagogy at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. She teaches piano and cello, and strives to provide fast paced lessons implementing the latest methodologies in music pedagogy.
Elina has been teaching at MY Piano Studio since 2019 and is also contracted as an Instrumental Teacher through the Catholic Education Office.
Elina began her performing career at a very early age, featuring in ABC TV's The Fairies, TML's production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as well as featuring in TV commercials and film. She has performed as a vocalist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra's production of Carmina Burana, recorded cello for film score and she is a member of the String Sirens ensemble.
About MY Piano Studio
MY Piano Studio is conveniently located in Dernancourt, just down the road from Dernancourt Shopping Village.
The studio is purpose built, bright, cheery and fully air-conditioned. Piano lessons are conducted on a Yamaha Grand Piano and a Grotrian Steinweg Grand Piano and students regularly use our Kawai and Casio digital pianos for workshops, ensemble performances and recording.

Tailored to Suit Your Needs
We really love teaching music and we take great pride in how we teach. We have highly interactive and engaging teaching styles which have evolved over time to suit the changing generations of students.
We understand that each student has their own optimal methods of learning and as specialist teachers we have the appropriate training to identify how to effectively engage and teach a diverse range of students.
Our studio is open Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday 9am to 7:30pm.

AMEB Exam Courses
My Piano Studio is a registered course provider and examination venue for the Australian Music Examination Board. Â All students are encouraged to prepare for the AMEB exams each year. Â
Practical exams are usually held in November, here at the studio with a visiting examiner from the board, whilst theory exams are offered online at any time of the year.
Available exam levels range from P Plate Piano right through to the Licentiate Diploma.
Con Brio Exam Course
Con Brio Examination Board is a newly recognised, international, music performance examination board. Students who prefer to submit practical exam content via a recorded upload rather than an in person exam are encouraged to sit these exams.
Adult Lessons
Whether you are a fresh beginner or you wish to build on previously acquired skills, we enjoy the opportunity to teach and guide adult learners in their musical journey.  It's never too late to start or restart the piano and learning an instrument is a great way to keep our brain active!
Piano and Cello
My Piano Studio offers lessons in piano and cello. We focus solely on these instruments to ensure a thorough and well prepared delivery of lessons.
Miss Elina teaches piano and cello and Ms Melody teaches piano only. Both teachers are qualified to take students through AMEB exams and have a friendly and consistent approach to their lessons.
Performance Opportunities
Sharing Music with Others
Whilst most of us find true joy in playing music for our own personal fulfilment, it is a beautiful gift to share with others. Â MY Piano studio provides students with many performance opportunities. Â Participation in these performances is recommend but by no means a compulsory component
Eisteddfod Achievements
South Australia holds two major Eisteddfods each year, namely the Balaklava Eisteddfod and the AES Eisteddfod. Â MY Piano Studio has proudly sponsored the Piano Duet and Piano Accompaniment section since 2014.
Students from MY Piano Studio are always encouraged to enter eisteddfods not only for the joy of possibly placing as a prize winner, but also for the invaluable performing opportunity and to receive constructive criticism from the highly esteemed adjudicators. Our students consistently place highly in these eisteddfods.
Performance Days

My Piano Studio arranges a series of concerts throughout the year at various performance venues. Students with a minimum of six months of learning are invited to perform.Â
Students may perform solo pieces, as part of a larger keyboard ensemble, or even as an accompanist to a solo instrument.
These performance days are a wonderful time for us to dress up, come together and share our music on stage to our supportive audience of family and friends.
Special Mentions
Every so often a student catches the attention of adjudicators, examiners and other influential members of the musical community in Adelaide and are invited to appear in special public performances. We are so proud when students from MY Piano Studio receive such mentions. It is just as rewarding for us as teachers as well.
